Years of multilingual organizing prioritized redeveloping the old furniture store site for the community into an intergenerational, multicultural space that would provide a bulwark against gentrification. We are making this vision a reality through our continued outreach and fundraising efforts. As you may already know, the four story building will be owned by ROSE Community Development Corporation and APANO Communities United Fund, and will include 48 affordable rental homes with a focus on families, and a cultural center and public plaza. With this new building going up, we are seeking your help in naming the building itself.
Naming Criteria includes:
- Local perspective and spirit of Outer Southeast Portland
- Meaning is consistent with and advances ROSE & APANO mission
- Origin and meaning of name can be effectively communicated
- Sound/ring/flow/spelling/pronunciation
- Length of name is feasible for building signs (ideally 9 letters or less)
What would you name the building? Suggest names by Monday, April 24th by clicking here.
