With less than 7 hours to spare, we surpassed our online grassroots fundraising goal, thanks to widespread support from our incredible community! Despite unforeseen challenges and learning four days ago that Indiegogo would be automatically ending our campaign a month earlier than expected, we knew the fundraising turnaround might be challenging. Yet we believed deeply that our supporters were more than ready to rise to our call. In just a few days we raised about $15,000 and nearly 450 people stepped up to contribute more than $26,000 online.
Our deepest appreciation for everyone who rallied to make this possible. In the short time frame our campaign posts were shared hundreds of times, along with stories and experiences of what the JAMS building meant to them and why the new cultural center is important for the community. You showed us that there really is no power like people power to get us through bumps in the road!
Over the years, APANO has been working in the Jade District with a deep commitment toward development without displacement. Numerous hours of community visioning and listening sessions came together with these values, and because of you, the cultural center this community has sought is one step closer to happening.
Thank you for planting seeds, and ensuring we grow roots strong enough for our communities to rise.
